Escaped suspect: Police ask for public’s help

Police are actively following up on all leads, says Rani.

The South African Police Service in Heilbron is appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating an unidentified male suspect who escaped from lawful custody in the early hours of Friday, April 10.

The suspect, believed to be a Mozambican national, had been arrested in connection with a burglary at a local farm and was being transported to the Heilbron Police Station. Upon arrival at approximately 03:00, the suspect managed to escape from police custody and fled on foot into nearrby bushes, says police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani.

The SAPS is urging anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, or who may have seen any suspicious persons in the area, to come forward. Community members are also advised not to approach the suspect, as he may be dangerous.

Anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Constable Pirimine Mofokeng on 0648415156 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. Information can also be provided anonymously via the MySAPS App.
