South Africans will vote in the Local Government Election on November 4.

The Electoral Commission welcomed the Electoral Court’s judgment dismissing the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) challenge concerning the integrity and reliability of the system used to capture and tabulate results in the 2024 National and Provincial Elections.

Following the judgment, the Commission will proceed with an independent external audit of the results system to be used for the 2026 Local Government Elections on 4 November 2026.

As part of its commitment to transparency, the Commission will provide political parties with access to the system from October 5-12, enabling them and their independent experts to test the system and identify any potential issues ahead of Election Day.

The Commission said it considers the matter closed and will not comment further.
