The Parys Gazette is a free weekly newspaper distributed on Thursdays in Parys (door-to-door) as well as at key points in Vredefort and Viljoenskroon. It is a community newspaper covering all community news, events and information. The Parys Gazette has been under the ownership of MooiVaal Media since 2001. Before 2001 the newspapers was privately owned first under the name of Parys Herald and later became the Noord-Vrystaatse Gazette, before it finally changed name to the Parys Gazette. The newspaper has been in existence for more than 30 years. A total of 7 500 newspapers are distributed and is very popular not only among residents, but also with tourist who visit Parys and want to get information on the what-to-do and community news in the various towns.
