I once read that “Inspiration comes from those that have overcome odds and combined dedications, focus and the appropriate strategy to achieve their goals.”
Words describing the remarkable achievement of former Parysenaar Nicole Rudman who had been crowned world champion for Woman Performance Bodybuilding at the 2022 World Fitness Federation’s World Championship in Indonesia. She also got second place in the MS Sportmodel category. Nicole and her SA team mates flew back to SA last week.
Nicole grew up in Parys, in the Free State and had always been an athlete.
“Growing up I was involved in swimming and waterpolo. I competed on provincial level in both but after an injury I had to throw in the towel at age 19. Life has rolled me a bit but I came through stronger. I came to a cross road in my life and decided that I should take care of myself, my body and mental health,” says the 31 year old mom and business owner from Alberton, Gauteng.
Her dream of competing started 10 years ago after a body transformation challenge. Due to the challenges of life this dream never became a reality until 8 months ago. “My interest in health, wellness and overall well-being made me create a lifestyle that embodies it. So I entered for the WFF Gauteng Provincials earlier this year and was privileged to be invited to the SA Championships. It was my ultimate dream to represent South Africa at the World Championships hosted by Indonesia. In order for me to make my dream come true I had to set certain goals… I had to place under the first 3 at the WFF Gauteng Provincials that was held on the 1st of October 2022 as this was a qualifying event for the SA Championships.”
“The SA Championships, isn’t only a prestigious event but it was my passport to reach my ultimate dream”
On the 15th of October, she entered the Miss Sportmodel and Performance devisions at the championships and was blessed to be placed 1st in her devisions at the SA’s.

Due to her busy lifestyle she do not have the time to go to the gym every day.
Nicole do home based traing 4 days a week and attend Alleys Way gym in Linksfield twice a week.
” I do not have any fancy gym equipment at home. Only light weights, bands, straps and a stability ball. I do believe that it is possible to exercise even though you do not belong to a gym,” says Nicole.
“It’s just about the fact that we should stop making excuses and just make the time, because we deserve it!”
“I have a very strict diet which consists out of 6 meals a day so failing to plan is planning to fail! Prepping up for the week ahead frees you up to make more time for family in a busy schedule,” she says.
“Meal planning and prepping are wonderful skills to have in your personal and wellness toolkit. A well-thought-out meal plan can not only help you to improve the quality of your diet but it also saves you time and money,” says Nicole.
“I was blessed to qualify for the World Championships hosted by Indonesia. Team South Africa departed on the 14 th of November and I participated on the 19th in the Performance devision and was honored to walk off the stage as a world champion on the 20th. I also participated in the Miss Sportmodel devision and was blessed with a 2nd place.”
Nicole was given an opportunity to qualify as a trainer and would like to use the opportunity as a qualified trainer to inspire other ladies that is serious about their health and wellness but believe they are too busy or they can’t do it at home, to start training because it is really possible to do with the right attitude and determination.
“This is where the hard work begins… Why be satisfied with living an average life – dreams don’t work unless you do. Therefor my motto is that a good player inspires him/herself, but a great player inspires others.”
Nicole thanked the community of Parys that helped her with sponsorships and made her dream become a reality. “Without my sponsors this would not be possible.”
Nicole was a former learner of Parys Primêr.
