While cleaning the Mimosaspruit at the corner of Breë and Van Coller streets, this excavator got stuck in the mud on Thursday, 15 December. Cleaning the spruit is necessary to prevent blockage, especially during the rainy season. A lot of rubbish is thrown into the spruit or ends up in the water due to littering. The reeds and mud also cause blockages that could be disastrous during heavy rains. This is part of a municipal clean-up.
