Ngwathe Executive Mayor to chair ANC in Fezile Dabi region

De Beer will as chairperson of the region lead all structures of the ANC in the Fezile Dabi region.

Ngwathe’s Executive Mayor, Cllr Victoria de Beer, has been elected as regional chaiperson of the ANC in the Fezile Dabi district at the 7th conference of the ANC in this region. She is the first woman to be elected in the position.
Toy Mokatsane was elected deputy chairperson, and Thabo Mabasa as regional secretary. Nthabiseng Mokodutlo is the newly elected regional treasurer.

The conference was held the past weekend at Woodlands, Parys. A total of 119 delegates from 52 branches in the Fezile Dabi region were present.
Sello Pietersen, additional member of the regional executive committee explained that branches make their nominations for the executive committee positions prior to the regional conference, and select their representative who is given the mandate to vote on behalf of each branch represented.
De Beer contested against Phindile Motha, also from Parys, for the position as chairperson.

Although the region had an executive committee previously, the region was lead up untill the conference by an interim regional commitee with Sizwe Mbalo as convenor.
Pietersen said the past weekend’s conference and election of the regional leadership was a success, and that De Beer will as chairperson of the region lead all structures of the ANC in the Fezile Dabi region.
He said that the branches agreed that De Beer has strong leadership qualities in taking the party forward, although she had challenges with recent protest action with regard to service delivery in the Ngwathe Municipality, which they felt was politically influenced. Pietersen said branch members were confident that she is attending to the issues in the best interest of the community.
She will serve as regional chairperson for a term of 3 years.
