Truck crashes in river killing two

Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson reported that a man was killed yesterday after a truck crashed off the R114 bridge and fell into a river in Diepsloot.

Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson reported that a man was killed yesterday after a truck crashed off the R114 bridge and fell into a river in Diepsloot.

ER24 paramedics, along with search and rescue, arrived on the scene and found a large truck lying on its roof in the river, just a few metres away from the bank. On inspection, paramedics found the body of a male driver lying trapped inside the vehicle. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries. On an update a second body of a man has been found in the overturned truck. The second body of a man was trapped inside the cab of the truck. Unfortunately, this man too had succumbed to his multiple injuries.

Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the man from the vehicle. ER24 paramedics, along with search and rescue teams, are searching the cab of the truck as well as the surrounding areas for any further patients. Traffic was heavily affected due to the incident. The cause of this incident is not yet known but local authorities are on scene for further investigations.
