“”Supply interruptions to both Tokologo and Masilonyana Local Municipalities will be intensified from tomorrow, 7 March 2018. Since Tokologo’s interruptions will be entering its third week, the Municipality will now face a daily 14 hour interruption.
Interruption of Tokologo’s bulk supply to increase to 14 hours per day
TUESDAY, 6 MARCH 2018: Tokologo Local Municipality’s scheduled interruptions due to non-payment of its Eskom account will enter its third week on Wednesday, 7 March 2018, and will therefore be extended to 14 hours per day as per the schedule communicated in a notice on 14 February 2018. Interruptions will continue until a suitable payment agreement has been reached.
Scheduled supply interruptions commenced on 21 February 2018 due to the Municipality’s failure to honour its Eskom debt totalling R36 464 659.52 as at 31 January 2018. Hertzogville, Boshof, Dealesville and Seretse are impacted.
“No satisfactory attempts have been made by Tokologo Local Municipality to avert further interruptions,” says Bibi Bedir, Senior Manager Customer Services, Free State. “This leaves us with no choice but to further intensify the interruption of bulk supply to the Municipality. We hope that the Municipality will make an urgent attempt to pay the amounts required to halt these interruptions for the sake of the affected communities.”
Eskom urges all electricity consumers in the affected towns to make sufficient arrangements to limit personal and business loss and to ensure that effective contingency measures are in place to prevent serious injury or loss of life that might result from the scheduled interruptions.
Temporary scheduled interruption of Tokologo is effected at the following times:
| Week 1 (21 February 2018 – 27 February 2018) | |
| Monday to Friday | Saturday and Sunday |
| 06:00 – 08:00 | 08:30 – 11:00 |
| 17:00 – 19:30 | 15:00 – 17:30 |
| Week 2 (28 February – 6 March 2018) | |
| Monday to Friday | Saturday and Sunday |
| 06:00 – 09:00 | 08:30 – 12:00 |
| 17:00 – 20:30 | 15:00 – 19:00 |
| Week 3 (7 March 2018 until agreement is reached) | |
| Monday to Friday | Saturday and Sunday |
| 06:00 – 20:00 | 06:00 – 20:00 |
Notwithstanding the above proposed indicative times for the interruption of electricity supply, Eskom may, upon 15 calendar days’ notice, serve the right to disconnect electricity entirely and indefinitely should the electricity debt situation not improve.”
