Watch out for dangerous potholes in Carletonville

On Tuesday, at least one vehicle was damaged when the driver hit a pothole in Uralite Street.
There are several deep potholes in the area between the SAVF offices and Hoërskool Carletonville.

At the T-junction of Wolfram Street, the road surface has also been damaged.

Many people use this road to get to the school’s sports grounds and the SAVF. Many of them are pensioners who go to either Senatus or Eureka Park.

Meanwhile, another dangerous pothole in Coronation Street, between Kaolin and Caledon Street near Janina Pawnshop, is also getting deeper by the day.
This pothole, situated on the left side of the road as you drive towards Carletonville Extension 9, is so deep that it would damage the wheel of any vehicle that tries to drive over it. Luckily, most drivers can swerve to avoid it. It is much more difficult to see at night or when it rains, however.

According to the area’s ward councillor, Mr Carlos Rebelo, he has notified the municipality of the problem several times, but to no avail.
Although the Merafong City Local Municipality said on Tuesday that “the potholes would be fixed according to the schedule,” people in Uralite Street says some were fixed the same day
