According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, around 06:40 ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and found a wrecked car on the side of the road. A truck was parked a short distance away.

“On closer inspection, medics found three men, believed to be in their 20s, lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle. Assessments showed that the driver showed no signs of life while another man had sustained critical injuries. The third man was found with moderate injuries,” said Meiring.

The driver was unfortunately declared dead at the scene.

The J.B. Marks Fire Services were present and they used specialised rescue equipment to free the other passengers who were treated by the medics. They were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical attention.

Fortunately, the driver of the truck sustained no injuries.

“Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” said Meiring.
