Cigarette smuggler arrested on P111 near Carletonville

According to the communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, the police were busy with a routine roadblock on the P111 road yesterday morning when they pulled a private vehicle over.

After going through the driver’s documents they opened the boot and found five boxes of Chelsea cigarettes inside.

The man was arrested and charged for being in possession of counterfeit cigarettes.

“The effort of the roadblock and stop and searches do sometimes yield good results. Persistence is the key to success,” says Carletonville’s Station Commissioner, Brigadier Marinda Theron.
