This year’s South African summer sports calendar is jam packed. This will be the first time that the rugby and cricket seasons all coincide and will be played over the same period. Starting with rugby where the Springboks pulled out of the Rugby Championship scheduled to take place later this year. This will leave Australia, New Zealand and Argentina playing to be the best in the southern hemisphere, the first match kicks off on the 31^st of October.

Although South Africans rugby fans will not be able to see the Springboks play this year does not mean that they won’t be in for a great local rugby. Super Rugby Unlocked is already underway and sees seven teams competing to be South Africa’s best provincial team. At the moment the Bulls are sitting at the top of the log with 10 points but anything can happen in the remaining three rounds of the competition which ends on the 21^st of November.

The Currie Cup will then kick off the following week on the 28^th of November and points accumulated on the Super Rugby Unlocked will carry over to the Currie Cup. The final whistle of the Currie Cup will be on the 23^rd of January 2021. November will bring all the cricket action that fans have been waiting for. The local CSA 4-Day series starts on the 2^nd of November and will show case the great local talent that South African cricket has to offer. \

The Proteas will finally make a return to international cricket when they take on England in three T20 and three One Day Internationals. The KFC T20 series will take place in Cape Town and Paarl where the first ball of the series will be bowled on the 27^th of November and the last for the series on the 1^st of December. The Betway One Day International series will see the return of the Proteas in one day cricket when they take on England in three ODIs.

The Betway One Day International is scheduled to start on the 4^th of December and the final match of the series taking place in Cape Town on the 9^th of December. Test Match cricket will be back on our screens on the 26^th of December when South Africa hosts Sri Lanka for two test matches.
