The Ngwathe Local Municipality in a statement today said it has noted recent media enquiries regarding a case opened against senior municipal management by the Democratic Alliance.
According to the statement, the municipality only heard of the matter through the media.
It comes as a surprise noting how the municipal management has been engaging openly with DA Councillors locally and regionally, various political parties and community based structures, addressing service delivery issues, municipal spokesperson, Mr Steve Naale, said in the statement.
Naale confirmed that the Municipal Manager, Mr Bruce Kannemeyer and the management team, met with an AfriForum delegation today, Thursday, 26 August 2021, where the technical team gave feedback on how the municipality is responding to water challenges in Ngwathe, generally.
He said the AfriForum delegation appreciated the platform to share ideas with the MM and the team, and that the municipal management team continues to appreciate the role played by external stakeholders in finding amicable solutions to service delivery challenges and sharing progressive ideas in the best interests of the residents.

In an earlier statement on the 19th of August, the municipality said that old and damaged water valves are being replaced and that “there will be water shortages in parts of town, Parys in particular, as a result thereof.
It was also then said that the water team is working on low water pressure affecting areas and street such as Oranje, Paulsen, Heap and President Street amongst others.
