Interested persons wishing to apply as registration staff (supervisor and officer) at the Independent Electoral Commission for the upcoming Local Government Election are reminded of the closing date for applications on Tuesday January 20.

It is a fixed term contract and successful candidates will contribute towards strengthening electoral democracy processes by assisting in coordinating and implementing the registration of voters and related programs of the Electoral Commission at voting station level.

Minimum requirements

• Must be a SA citizen
• Must be a registered voter
•  The Registration Supervisor must have at least eight years professional, supervisory or administrative work experience (previous registration, presiding or deputy presiding officer experience will be advantageous.
• The Registration officer must have technological knowledge and experience, or have an IT technical background i.e technology as subject at high school level or tertiary level.
• In the past five years not have held political office or been a candidate in an election or have been politically active for a political party or campaigning for a political party.
• In the past five year must not have been convicted of serious criminal offence(s)
• As far as possible must have some form of training or further education.
• Must have access to a mobile telephone
• Must have the ability to operate smartphone technology
• Must be proficient in the relevant local languages of the municipality
• Must have a valid bank account

The successful candidates will be required to work over a weekend.
