Every fourth Sunday of September is World Rivers Day, where people across the world undertake river clean-ups. Locally, we will cele- brate the day to coincide with Heritage Day Celebrations on Saturday, 24 September.
Our rivers, and especially the Vaal River we live next to, are part of our natural heritage, and we need to take care of them.
Please join Vaal Action Group at the low water bridge at Parys Golf & Country Estate at 09:00 this Saturday for a fun clean-up and braai day as we celebrate the beauty of our natural heritage.
Bring your gloves, hat, sunscreen and water and be part of this initiative. Water is life, and every drop counts. A clean river starts with us today.
The project also coincides with a national project called the Blue Deal, which will be rolled out in Parys in the coming months to enhance the quality of the river water downstream.
