The Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol arrested two illegal immigrants, aged 37 and 33, in Viljoensdrift for dagga trafficking.
According to police spokesperson Sgt Josephine Rani, the Highway Patrol members were patrolling the R82 when they noticed a suspicious vehicle with a Lesotho registration at about 23:35 on Wednesday, 30 August.
They pulled the vehicle with two male occupants over. When searching it, police members found 11 bags containing dagga, says Rani.

The police confiscated the dagga, weighing 300 kg and valued at about R800,000.
The suspects appeared before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on 1 September 2023 on charges of dagga trafficking, bribery and being illegal immigrants.

The acting district commissioner of the Fezile Dabi SAPS, Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane, applauded the members for being vigilant and proactive in ensuring the suspects ended up behind bars.
