Police issued stern warning to offenders this festive season

The Police service reassures the community that these enhanced operations will be sustained throughout the festive period to ensure the safety of all citizens.

The police had a stern warning to criminals and offenders as part of their intensified Festive Season High-Density Operations, recording a total of 14 successes over the past weekend. These efforts were specifically focused on combating illegal liquor trading, drunk driving, and enhancing visible policing.
​An early operation in Odendaalsrus running from Friday (22:00) to Saturday (04:00) yielded immediate results, focusing on major routes and known hotspots. The operation concluded with 10 successes, directly impacting crime generators.  Two (2) suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of liquor.  One (1) suspect was apprehended for dealing in dagga.  A strong stance was taken against illegal alcohol sales, leading to the closure of two (2) illegal shebeens.  Five (5) fines were issued for various liquor-related contraventions.
​The intensity was amplified during a High-Density Operation executed in Thabong between Saturday, 28 November, and Sunday, 29 November (20:00 – 04:00). This operation involved a massive deployment of personnel from various police units, including Visible Policing, POP (Public Order Policing), and Corporate Communication, to ensure high visibility and proactive policing.
​The coordinated operation resulted in the arrest of two (2) individuals and several fines.  One (1) suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of liquor.  One (1) person was arrested for contravention of an imigration act.  Four (4) fines were issued for contravening the Liquor Act.

​The successful operation was characterized by high engagement with the community and focused searches.  608 persons searched.  344 vrhicles searched.  28 compliance inspections conducted on businesses and premises.
