Home Affairs working at reduced capacity in area

Dates will be confirmed for when the mobile truck from Department of Home Affairs will visit Parys.

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is currently operating from the White House at Parys District Hospital, while waiting for renovations and maintenance to be done on the municipal building in Tumahole, which it previously used.

Currently, the department can only process birth, marriage, and death certificates at the hospital premises and only operates on weekdays during office hours.

Assistance with Smart ID applications, collections of Smart ID cards, and re-issuing of IDs for adults is done by the department’s mobile service in Sasolburg, which regularly visits Ngwathe towns. However, this service was not rendered in Parys in the past month due to challenges experienced by the department, the Ngwathe Speaker confirmed.

Although a schedule of dates for the mobile service was provided earlier, dates for the service to visit Parys will be announced once confirmed with the department.

Residents can also enquire about the availability of Smart ID and passport services at selected bank branches. Currently, Capitec Parys is a selected branch offering Smart ID card services via in-branch paperless processing to replace lost/stolen ID cards or to replace green ID books for account holders.
