High visibility policing at Viljoenskroon during Operation Shanela II
The operation formed part of the planned Operation Shanela II actions.
As part of the SAPS’s crime prevention initiatives. aimed at enhancing visibility and ensuring compliance with road traffic regulations, members of the Fezile Dabi District conducted a Vehicle Checkpoint (VCP) operation along the R59 at Viljoenskroon, including the entrances and exits of Rammulotsi.
The operation formed part of the planned Operation Shanela II actions, and was carried out under the command of Acting Station Commander, Captain Selebano.
During the operation, vehicles were stopped and inspected, with officers verifying driver documentation, vehicle licences, and roadworthiness. Searches were conducted where necessary, focusing on detecting illegal substances, dangerous weapons, and suspected stolen property.


The operation further enabled members to engage directly with motorists, promoting road safety awareness and encouraging compliance with the law.
High visibility policing was maintained throughout the duration of the VCP, contributing to a safer environment for both motorists and the broader community, SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani said.
