The 2026 Cross Country Running season started early in April with the Fezile Dabi development league that took place in the newly developed Parys Wetland Park.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, athletes from surrounding clubs and schools supported this event in preparation for the big leagues that started in May.

From the group of athletes that started in the wetland, 38 athletes were selected to represent Fezile Dabi at the Athletics Free State Cross Country Provincial Championship on August 15 in Bloemfontein.
Fezile Dabi is one of five cross country districts in the Free State.

The Fezile Dabi Championship League primarily serves the cross country running community in the Northern region of the Free State.

A total of seven events were presented between Koedoeslaagte and Sasolburg this year.
The Kroonstad league was cancelled for 2026 due to quarantine restrictions imposed at the Landbouterrein.

The Fezile Dabi Cross Country Running League was started by Parys Multisport in 2020, and Koedoeslaagte Trail Park was selected as the home of Fezile Dabi Cross Country.

In 2024, the Kroonstad Landbouterrein was added to the list of running venues with Trio as the organising club.

In 2026, Prime Athletics Club joined forces to present the Cross Country Leagues in Sasolburg, hosting their very first event on their newly developed course next to the DP De Villiers Stadium.
The Fezile Dabi District Championship took place on August 1 at Koedoeslaagte, where 43 clubs and schools competed for a final chance to be included in the 2026 district team.

The 2026 AFS Fezile Dabi Cross Country Running Team was announced on August 3.
The team contains 198 athletes who will represent our district at the provincial championships in Bloemfontein.

The Fezile Dabi team is of top and electable standard, and we wish all the athletes and coaches all the best with their preparations for the provincial and national championships ahead.
