Breaking news: Hijacked SPCA vehicle recovered

Two dogs were in the vehicle when it was hijacked earlier today.

The Germiston/Bedfordview SPCA’s Isuzu Fleetside single cab bakkiethat was hijacked earlier today has been reovered.

The vehicle driver, Junior, was on his way to the vet when a man approached the passenger window, pretending to ask about the SPCA. When Junior opened the window, the man unlocked the door, jumped in and held a firearm to his head. Junior was forced out, pushed into another vehicle and later dropped off in Soweto. He made his way to a police station, badly shaken. For several hours, the SPCA team had no way of reaching him.

Two dogs – Cross Labrador-type, black and brown, male and a Border Collie-type, white, male, were in the back of the vehicle when it was hijacked. At the time of publication more information about the dogs and where the vehicle was found, was not yet available.

That someone could do this to an SPCA employee and to two defenceless animals is hard to comprehend.
