Fezile Dabi cross country running championship title up for grabs
The Fezile Dabi Open Cross Country Running League is back on track and the final league of this 4-part series is sche- duled to take place on Saturday, 14 August 2021 at Koedoeslaagte Trail Park & Venue, with strict health and safety protocols in place. League 4 was scheduled to take place on Saturday, 24 July, but had to be postponed when the third wave of Covid restrictions caused a sudden halt to sports events in South Africa.
League 4 also incorporates the Fezile Dabi Cross Country Championship and the first titles for this yearly event is up for grabs to any ASA-licensed athlete who enters. Although the league serves to prepare and present athletes that are eligible to compete at provincial- and national levels, the Fezile Dabi Cross Country champions are yet to be crowned. Entries for this final league and championship event presented by Parys Multisport closes this weekend (Saturday, 7 August 2021.
The entry form and more information for this event are available on www.fezdxc.co.za. With the Athletics Free State Provincial Cross Country Champion-ship scheduled for Bloemfontein on Saturday, 21 August 2021, some adjustments had to be made to the qualification criteria and the Fezile Dabi Cross Country running team announced earlier.
The preliminary announcement of athletes who qualified, according to the standards of the Fezile Dabi Cross Country League, will be on Monday, 9 August 2021. Based on the successes of 2021 and the positive response from our athletes, Parys Multisport is already planning the 2022 cross country season to include more activities and events.
Parys Multisport is also planning to introduce a new format to cross country running that is geared towards the primary school age categories and aligned with the club’s vision of making Parys the place where the country’s best cross country runners are born.
Parys Multisport once again extends its gratitude to its sponsors, athletes and supporters – Koedoeslaagte, Anatomic, CSS Security, The Wound Clinic, Silver Edge Studio and the Parys Gazette. No matter how big or small, we appreciate every contribution and every bit of support that made it possible to present this event.
