The police’s fight against drugs seems to be bearing fruit as three suspects were arrested for possession of suspected illegal substances in Promosa and Ikageng last Friday.
Const. Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, says the crime prevention members conducted a stop and search in Promosa at about 05:45 and managed to apprehend and arrest a 27-year-old who was in possession of a small plastic bag with a white substance, suspected to be mandrax pills.
An hour later, members of the Potchefstroom K9 unit received information about men selling dagga at the Ikageng hostel.
‘They encountered two men and conducted a search of the premises. They also found mandrax tablets and a plastic bag of dagga,’ says Trom. She adds that an undisclosed amount of cash was also found on the premises.
