The Ikageng police have reported that three women were allegedly raped between last Saturday and Monday.
According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, a 37-year-old woman alleges that a 29-year-old man raped her after accompanying her from a tavern in Ikageng in the early hours of Saturday morning.
“The complainant alleges that she was drinking at a tavern when an unknown man came up and told her that he lived in the same street as she did. She agreed to walk home with him but, on the way, she noticed that they were heading in the wrong direction. The man took her to a backyard shack at some unknown address.
“They went inside and told her to undress. When she refused, he slapped her. The man proceeded to rape her and she later fell asleep. When she woke up, she got dressed and walked out. The suspect followed her and she screamed for help. The man got a fright and ran away,” reported Trom.
Two men take turns raping woman
In another incident, just after midnight on Sunday, two men allegedly took turns raping a 36-year-old woman in Ext. 11.
“She says she was at a tavern with her boyfriend at about 22:15 when she noticed three men sitting next to their table. She warned her boyfriend to put his wallet somewhere safe. They had an argument later and, when her boyfriend slapped her in the face, she decided to walk home alone.
“When she got to the corner of her street, she saw the same three men from the tavern. One of them grabbed her around the throat and the second one grabbed her by the shorts she was wearing. The third one was walking beside them the whole time.
“They dragged her behind a wall. One assailant threw her to the ground and, after hitting her with a fist, the two ripped her clothes off. One suspect raped her while the other pinned her to the ground. When he had finished, the two swapped places. The bystander was telling them to stop. One of her rapists suggested that they should kill her but the third man resisted again. They then fled the scene,” reported Trom.
Alleged rapist promises teen airtime after raping her
The third incident occurred on Monday. According to Trom, a 19-year-old girl was making her bed at about 09:15 on Monday.
“Her cousin’s boyfriend came in and closed the door. He pushed her onto the bed, undressed her and raped her. When it was over, he got dressed and promised to buy the victim airtime and a cold drink,” said Trom.
