J.B. Marks Local Municipality’s executive mayor, Kgotso Khumalo’s Covid-19 journey to recovery is going well, says Mandla Tawana, the mayoral spokesperson. The executive mayor was hospitalised at Medi-Clinic on the evening of Tuesday, 21 July, after testing positive for Covid-19.
According to Diana King, the Medi-Clinic spokesperson, Khumalo was discharged on Monday, 27 July.
Tawana said Khumalo was still under the strict care of a doctor of another private medical facility, however, he was discharged to his home on Wednesday, 29 July.
“He will soon be back at the Office to discharge his duties. Indeed Covid-19 is alive and does not choose your social standing, your pocket size, your ethnic group or which gender you are,” said Tawana.
The office of the mayor extended its appreciation to the greater public for their support and the good Samaritans who are lending a helping hand to fellow community members amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The office also thanked the government officials who are working to ensure that services are delivered.
It expressed special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who help treat all patients.
“We wish for God to touch them,” said Tawana.
The office of the mayor pleads with the community to continue observing the lockdown regulations to curb the spread of the disease. While the mayor is in recovery, the MMC (member of the mayoral committee) for sports, arts and culture, Lesego Molapisi will serve as the acting executive mayor until 15 August.
