One of the most beloved restauranteurs, businessmen and well-known Belgian beer aficionado of Potchefstroom, André Jacobs, has sadly passed away today (Thursday, 9 September 2021).
André ran the very popular Old Grimbeekhuis restaurant and Belgian Beer Bar in Grimbeek Park. This is where he earned the reputation of being one of the friendliest and heartwarming hosts to various patrons.
He had a unique personality that touched everyone he came into contact with at his restaurant, which served quality food and amazing varieties of Belgian beer in the tranquil and nature filled surroundings.
He was also known as an award winning florist and stylist who had a superb eye for the beauty of this world.
Old Grimbeekhuis confirmed the news of his passing in a short post on Facebook today:
“Good Afternoon Old Grimbeekhuis Family and Friends. It is with great sadness that we convey the passing of Andre. He passed away peacefully in hospital this afternoon. Old Grimbeekhuis will be closed until further notice.
