SANDF parade set to be one of the highlights of Youth Celebration Week

The week also consisted of sporting events between units as well as youth dialogue and community engagement where units had an opportunity to present their field of expertise to the public. 

The SANDF (South African National Defence Force) is hosting its Youth Celebration Week 2023 from 18 to 23 June at Army Support Base in Potchefstroom.

Various activities have already taken place during the week, with a special parade set to commence at 09:00 tomorrow (Friday, 23 June).

The week also consisted of sporting events (race walking, running, volleyball, soccer and netball) between units as well as youth dialogue and community engagement where units had an opportunity to present their field of expertise to the public.

Showcases included, Fire & Rescue, 4 Artillery Regiment workshops that focused on the role of gunners and various weapons as well as the daily workings of the 17 Maintanence Unit and 102 Field Workshop, amongst various other exhibitions.

According to The Chief Director Transformation Management, Major General Zuziwe Maso the event aims to empower the youth in presenting exciting career opportunities within the Department of Defence, with a focus on aviation and aerospace.
