The 19th edition, brings together members of the Regular and Reserve Forces from across the South African Army, South African Air Force, South African Navy, South African Military Health Service, and supporting divisions. Competitors are joined by international military teams from Namibia, the Netherlands, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, underscoring the event’s growing international stature and contribution to military cooperation.

Competitors also practice their techniques on Tuesday 27 October in the swimming pool and rifle ranges. This ahead of the water obstacle clash taking place this afternoon (Wednesday, October 28).

According to Captain Jacques de Vries, the Dirkie Uys Shooting Range was also popular as practice continued with the R4 assault rifle – firing at targets 200m distant, and with the Z88 and SP1 pistol – at a daunting 25m away.

“For the international participants, the practice is especially valuable since they must abandon almost all reference to their own service weapons and learn fast before shooting for points against stiff competition later in the week.”
