Another service delivery protest erupted in Ward 6 after community members blocked the streets with rocks and debris at about 13:00, today (24 June).

They also threatened to burn down the house belonging to the ward councillor, Jafta Monaisa.

According to a resident on the scene, the protesters went on a rampage demanding that Monaisa step down. “They say the ward councillor has been at the helm for seven years and has not brought any developments to the ward,” she said.

The protesters escorted Monaisa to the police station to write and sign an affidavit that he is stepping down as a ward councillor.
