Seishin Martial Arts Academy celebrates success at National Karate Championship

Sensei Emma Wentzel said that the children’s performance reflected all the hard work and dedication they put into karate.

Seishin Martial Arts Academy in Randpark Ridge is beaming with pride as five of its karate athletes returned home with good results from the prestigious Karate South Africa National Children’s Championship held in April.

Known for showcasing the highest level of competition in the country, the event highlighted the exceptional talent and sportsmanship of our local participants.

The athletes were able to represent Gauteng in the highest level of competition in the country after scoring medals in the Gauteng Provincial Championship earlier in the year.

Under the expert guidance of Sensei Emma Wentzel, these young athletes demonstrated remarkable dedication and skill on the national stage, earning well-deserved recognition for their dojo and community. “Our athletes faced fierce competition and showed incredible resilience and determination,” said Wentzel. “Their performance is a true testament to their hard work and dedication.”

Amu Caluza, Aaron Kruger, and AJ Du Preez each secured a third-place finish, earning them bronze medals in their respective categories. “Seeing Amu, Aaron, and AJ step onto the podium was a proud moment for all of us at Seishin. Their achievements are a reflection of their relentless effort and passion for karate,” said Wentzel.

Ethan Naidoo and Usphile Caluza also delivered strong performances, finishing fifth and seventh in kata [The Japanese word for forms] respectively. “Ethan and Usphile may have just missed the podium, but their performances were equally inspiring. They showcased tremendous potential, and we are very excited about their future in the sport.”

The competition demanded every ounce of strength and skill from these young athletes. Despite the challenges, they rose to the occasion, pushing their limits and demonstrating the spirit of true competitors. “The level of competition was incredibly high, but our athletes rose to the challenge. They pushed themselves beyond their limits, embodying the true spirit of karate.”

Wentzel congratulated the athletes for their outstanding achievements saying that their success at the national level brought immense pride and joy to the dojo and the broader community. “Their achievements are an inspiration to us all. We look forward to their continued growth and future accomplishments in the world of karate.”
