Randburg Square unveils new level 4 taxi rank

Randburg Square’s new taxi rank offers shoppers and commuters safer, easier, and more convenient access.

Randburg Square has opened a new taxi rank on level 4 of the mall’s parking area.

Level 4 has been permanently repurposed as a dedicated transport hub. This change directly improves accessibility for commuters and makes shopping at Randburg Square more convenient by providing easier access to public transport.

The launch was attended by the Randburg United Local Long Distance Taxi Associations (RULLDTA), mall executives, and other key stakeholders, all united by a shared vision of improving the shopping experience.

Representatives from the taxi industry welcomed the initiative, noting that the new rank would streamline operations and provide a safer, more organised environment for both drivers and commuters.

Spokesperson of RULLDTA Sipho Hlongwane explained that the initiative means a lot to the association, and they will look after their new rank. “This has never happened in our association that we have a rank inside the mall, so we really appreciate what they did for us. We’re going to make good use of this facility.”

He added that they will ensure the rank remains clean and a safe space for commuters.

Shoppers visiting Randburg Square can now expect a smoother transition between transport and retail.

Instead of navigating crowded parking lanes or waiting along busy streets, customers will find clearly designated loading zones, improved signage, and better traffic flow on level 4.

The rank will feature taxis servicing Honeydew, Cosmo City, Fourways, Diepsloot, and surrounding locations.

Junior National Operations Manager of Randburg Square Nkosie Mkhwanazi, said by dedicating an entire level to taxi services they aim to create a more efficient, user-friendly environment, meeting the evolving needs of the community.

“We are creating a safe space where it’s easy to transact. We have noticed that for more customers the rank was far, and now we are bringing it closer to them. We are also trying to create a safe space where they can shop and get the ride home inside the mall.”

As the ribbon was cut and the first taxis rolled in, the level 4 parking lot was filled with excitement.

The development represents not just a structural change but a meaningful step toward convenience, safety, and better every day experiences for all commuters.
