Townhouse robberies continue

Residents are urged to look after their own security especially during evenings and early morning.

Ensure doors and windows are properly locked when going to sleep. Do not leave any keys visible near open windows or in doors.

Town Houses are being targeted in Sector 3, especially in Ruimsig, Honeydew and Lazerpark.

The hot spot period is between 2am and 4am.

A group of three to five suspects armed with firearms gain entry through sliding doors and back doors. The suspects mostly take laptops, TV sets and cell phones.

Record serial numbers, make and model of all electronic equipment especially laptops and keep in a safe place. When reporting these items stolen complainants will be requested to supply these details in order to circulate the stolen property.

Hi-jacking warning

  • Be on the lookout for any suspicious persons in the street or movement at your gate when leaving or arriving at your residence.
  • Ensure adequate light at the entrance and limit obstructions such as big shrubs.
  • When approaching your street look in your mirrors for any vehicle following you. Rather drive around the block to make sure you are not being followed, especially when returning from the airport.
  • As soon as you have entered your property immediately close and lock your gate before off-loading from the vehicle.

Theft out of motor vehicles

  • Vehicles parked at shopping malls and shopping centres are being targeted.
  • Drivers of vehicles are still parking vehicles with valuables inside and then continue shopping.
  • Do not exit the vehicle and only press the immobilizer while walking away.
  • Property reported stolen the most out of vehicles are handbags, laptops, GPS’s, cameras and cash.
