Residents transform park

Resident steps in and makes a difference.

In celebration of Arbour Month the Kenbrink Residents Association held a tree planting day at Kensington Park.

The association’s spokesperson, Sandy Heidstra was impressed by the number of residents that showed up for the day. Heidstra said the day would not have been successful if it was not for the kind heart of resident Erwin Schwentzek.

“We gave up trying to persuade City Parks to sponsor us the trees so we had to wait until someone was able to help us. I was pleasantly surprised when Schwentzek phoned and informed me that he would be able to donate 10 small trees that he had grown himself,” said Heidstra.

Ward 104 councillor Mike Wood said, “What used to be an exposed park without any trees has now been turned into a place where residents can relax after a busy day at work.

I want to thank every member that took the time and helped with the tree planting day.”
