Northgate ice skater takes silver in Cape Town
Twelve-year-old Mariëlla Kolaja skated her way to second place at a recent inter-provincial skating competition.

Northgate ice skater Mariëlle Kolaja won two silver medals at the Cape Championships, the last inter-provincial ice skating competition for 2013.
The championship took place from 11 to 13 October and Kolaja (12) performed two individual numbers and participated in a synchronised team performance. She was one of 31 skaters representing Central Gauteng at the championships “For all three inter-provincial championships this year I performed to the same music, Pata Pata and Time after Time.”
The dance routines took two to three weeks to master. Not only did she win two silver medals, she also qualified to represent South Africa in several international competitions next year, all of which take place in Europe.
