Early Xmas for orphans

Company steps up and changes the lives of orphans.

Children of Mother of Peace Foster Home will kick off the festive season a bit earlier this year.

The orphanage is a non-profit organisation and a foster home for HIV affected and abandoned children in North Riding. They support and supervise the care of more than 100 children who have been re-integrated into their extended families.

Battery manufacturer Energizer will aim to collect 20 gifts for the orphans who are between the ages of six and 19. Brand manager Rashmi Vadivelu said, “The children’s home receives no financial assistance from government and has no major sponsors that fulfil its financial commitment to caring for these children. And I feel that it’s our turn to do something for these children.”

Shoppers at Northgate shopping centre can assist by collecting a gift bag from the Energizer stand that will be located at the Pick n Pay Court close to entrance 2 from 14 to 17 November.

Shoppers are encouraged to fill the bag with the gifts listed on the children’s wish-list. Mother of Peace spokesperson Pat Prinsloo said, “We are extremely grateful that Energizer and Northgate shopping centre are stepping in to enlighten the lives of the children. I want to thank everyone that is part of this wonderful campaign.”

Vadivelu concluded, “By sharing our positive energy, together we can make the world a better place with brighter smiles.”
