Fontainebleau resident Donovan Fourie made racing headlines after becoming Battle of the Twins champion for 2013.
Fourie, who has been competing in the championship for the past four years was thrilled with the win. He won the championship in 2010 and came third and second in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
His Ducati Panigale S has held strong throughout every race in the past two championships, barring the last race of this championship when he had to use the spare bike, a Ducati 1198S. This did not hold him back, however. After receiving stiff competition from Brian Bontekoning the whole season, Bontekoning’s bike gave in during the semi-final round giving Fourie the lead on the scoreboard, 51 points ahead of Bontekoning.
“The Panigale definitely had a good run these last two years,” said Fourie enthusiastically. “Brian was strong opposition and he showed fantastic sportsmanship. But my biggest thanks goes to David Postlethwayt from RD Racing who always made sure my bike goes faster around every corner than anyone else’s does.”
Not just a champion racer, Fourie also works as a writer for Bike SA and Offroad, and Adventure SA magazines. He is the son of biking legend, Simon Fourie.
