Christmas wishes from Randburg police
Safety tips to follow during the festive season.
With the year close to it’s end Randburg police have provided safety tips for residents in the area.
Station commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo said crime levels had stabilised in the Randburg precinct, but residents still needed to look after themselves and their families.
She said, “If you are going away do not leave your lights on during the day, and always ensure that your alarm system is working and it is activated when you are not home.” Hugo added that while driving to remember to always observe who was following you and to not leave your vehicle unattended in the street when you were visiting.
“In order to combat crime during the festive season we are going to increase our visibility. Officers that are usually office bound will also be utilised operationally out on the street. Increased vehicle patrols will be conducted in all our suburbs. A lot of focus will also be placed on all shopping centres in our precinct where officers will be on foot inside and outside the shopping centres, to serve as a deterrent for any criminal activity.”
She said members will be deployed in line with crime tendencies to ensure that most of them were on duty during problematic days and times.
She added that management and staff of Randburg police would like to thank the community for their support during the year. “A special word of thanks to all that served on our Community Police Forum, sector and other forums. Your ongoing efforts to assist Randburg police in the fight against crime is much appreciated. “Thank you to all our partners, without you we would not have been able to achieve the successes that we have, and we would not have been that successful in keeping the crime down to the extent that we have.”
She concluded that if the community took note of the safety tips it will certainly assist in making sure that the festive season will be remembered as a happy one. “May all have a blessed Christmas and prosperous new year.”
