Trinity Methodist hosts holiday club

Trinity methodist church holiday club kate waterston

For the last 28 years, Trinity Methodist Church in Linden has allowed its property to run amok during the first school holidays when, over 200 children and 100 teenagers take over.

“Our annual event known as holiday club is celebrating it’s 29th anniversary as an outreach to children of all ages in the community,” said Kate Waterston, the church’s children and family pastor. She added that as a program that is fully sponsored by the church, children from grade 0 – 7 will have an opportunity to get involved in games, crafts, singing and small discussion groups based on their age group, ending with a 15 m banana split to finish off the week.

“The second part of the program is aimed at teenagers and university students who are trained by the leadership team and are then equipped to lead a group of children throughout the week. These teenagers give up their holiday to do a service for the children of the community, but are also incorporated into a youth program every evening,” explained Waterston.

She also said that the church considers it a privilege to have the opportunity to give to the children of the greater Linden community. “The church is also hoping to provide this program as a service to parents who might have to leave their children unsupervised during their work week,” she said.

The program will run from from the 31 March to 4 April at 07:30am to 1:30pm daily to fit in with parents work schedules.
