Eskom: Power supply tight, no load shedding
JOBURG - No load shedding is expected but Eskom warned that the power system would remain extremely tight over the next few days.

No load shedding is expected but Eskom warned that the power system would remain extremely tight over the next few days.
The power utility said the higher electricity demand during winter due to colder weather conditions put the power grid under pressure.
Last week, the power utility declared a system emergency and urged major customers to reduce electricity consumption by at least 10 percent.
Load shedding was implemented for one hour on the evening of 11 June, the second time that planned power cuts occurred this year.
Eskom continued to urge all consumers to save at least 10 percent of their electricity usage and sustain these savings.
In an effort to avoid load shedding, Eskom called on electricity users to switch off non-essential appliances, pool pumps and geysers between 5pm and 9pm.
Further, the power giant advised that the public delay switching on electrical space heaters in order to beat the peak and postpone cooking to after 6:30pm.
In the event that load shedding becomes necessary, load shedding schedules are available here for Eskom customers.
