The Russians have landed
FERNDALE – Lynne Ward takes her beautiful Russian Terriers to the WODAC pet expo.
JOBURG – Animal lovers will be able to meet Ferndale resident, Lynne Ward, and her Russian (Tchiorney) terriers, Ruschka, Polkan and Baba-Yaga at the World of Cats and Dogs and Pet Exhibition (WODAC), which will take place from 18 to 20 July at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.
“Russian black terriers are a part of the working group breed of dogs,” said Ward, “they are a relatively new breed and were bred by the Russian military.”
Russian black terriers (RBTs) are a giant breed which are calm, confident and self-assured. They adapt well to training and were bred to guard and protect. They are deeply loyal to and very protective of the family.
Ward and her ‘Russians’ will be taking part in some competitions at the Dogs of the World Parade on 19 July along with more than a hundred other breeds.
The exhibition offer the opportunity to explore pet ownership as you browse the Hall of Dogs, Hall of Cats, Hall of Reptiles and fall under the spell of the Magic of Horses. Also on show, are exotic pets, budgies and parrots, fish, koi, rabbits, pedigree rats to new breeds of imported guinea pigs. WODAC has something for everyone, whether you’re a seasoned pet parent or considering pet adoption for the first time.
