Shootout all the way to Fourways

FOURWAYS – Police and suspects tussle in vehicle chase through Malibongwe Drive and WItkoppen Road.

FOURWAYS – A shootout which began in Randburg ended in Fourways, as two suspects were chased by police and evaded five road blocks before crashing to a halt on Witkoppen Road on 31 July.

Early in the morning, two suspects were seen in Randburg by Randburg Police driving a “silver-grey” Hyundai without number plates, explained Douglasdale Police spokesperson Balan Muthan.

The police thought the vehicle was suspicious and signaled to the suspects to slow down.

But the suspects hastily drove away and a police chase ensued north along Malibongwe Drive.

The suspects apparently evaded five road blocks, and when they entered the Douglasdale Police’s territory the Douglasdale Police joined the chase.

Members of the police were shot at, and returned fire.

The suspects crashed off the road, near the corner of Witkoppen and Main roads.

One suspect was wounded and taken to Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (Joburg General) while the other was arrested and taken to Douglasdale Police Station.
