Learn from the experienced RAs

SHARONLEA – Experienced resident associations like the Central Sharonlea Resident's Forum could teach other RAs a thing or two.

Resident associations in Ward 101 should convene to advise each other on how to solve problems.

This according to Ward 101 councillor Ralf Bittkau, who asked the associations in his Ward to contact him so he can set up a meeting whereby less experienced associations could learn from the more experienced ones.

He said associations such as the Central Sharonlea Resident’s Forum have been around for a long time and have a lot of helpful tips they could pass on to other associations.

Central Sharonlea is said to be kept very safe by a camera security system.

The forum’s chairperson Richard Shuttle said that crime is low in the area and the values of the houses have risen in recent years.

“The suburb is doing well,” he said. “The value of our houses are good and we have minimal crime.”

He added that the forum erected notice boards at the entrances to the area where crime tips are left for residents.

It also erected a fence along Malibongwe Drive to keep criminals out of the area, and installed lasers behind the back walls of houses that sound alarms when people are close enough to jump over the walls.

The forum also permits trolley men into the area to collect recyclable plastics, but ensures that the men do not leave a mess.

Ward 101 includes Ballindean, Boskruin, Bromhof, Bryanston Ext 45, Meadowhurst, North Riding, Northwold, Olivedale, Sharonlea, Sonneglans, Kelly Ridge, Hunters Hill AH and Bush Hill Estate AH Ext 1.
