A fire that broke out on a truck transporting vehicles on the N1 near Beyers Naudé Drive on Thursday evening has largely subsided, with the vehicle now mainly smoking as emergency services continue to manage the scene.
Democratic Alliance Ward 98 candidate Devon Steenkamp, who first alerted residents to the incident, confirmed that no injuries had been reported.
Steenkamp said it was still too early to state what had caused the fire, cautioning against speculation until emergency services completed their assessment.

He added that the duration of any lane or road closures would depend on the emergency response and clearing operations.
