Double check for Laerskool Fontainebleau

FONTAINEBLEAU – Chess players make their primary school proud.

Laerskool Fontainebleau’s U9 and U11 teams did well to help their school finish third at the recent Top Schools Championships. The provincial chess tournament’s final round was played in Pretoria on 29 August. The 14 players ensured that they planned their moves carefully before playing, an important skill in the development of young minds.

Adriaan Mostert, Pieter Naudé and Ruben Fitoon were awarded board prizes. Adriaan Mostert was also voted the best U9 player at the tournament. Chess convener at the school Helen Lombaard congratulated the boys, and said that Mostert’s achievement was one to be proud of.
