Old Boys 10’s kicks off

MALANSHOF - Old Boys teams from all over South Africa gathered at the Diggers Rugby Club Randburg for the Old Boys 10's tournament.

The Diggers Rugby Club Randburg and Old Boys 10s Rugby held their Old Boys 10s rugby tournament on 1 November. The day consisted of matches between the old boys teams; each game was 20 minutes, 10 minutes a half. The teams that were playing are: Jeppe High, Dale College, St Andrews College, Queens College, Grey High, Selborne College, Martizburg College and King Edwards VII School. It was a round knockout, each team playing each other.

The semi-final was between St Andrews and Queens College, and Dale College and Grey High School.

At the finals it came down between the two schools – Dale College and St Andrews College, with a final score of 12–7 to Dale College.

The day was filled with much excitement and a great crowd that greatly enjoyed the spirit evoked by sharing and reuniting as a school for a game of competitive rugby. Marcel Malherbe tournament director of Old Boys 10s Rugby commented, ”It was a great turnout this year and we can promise that

next year will be bigger, better and have far more schools participating in a concept such as this.”
