Douglasdale CPF year-end meeting

DOUGLASDALE – The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum hosts their final meeting for the year.

The Olivedale Library played host to the final Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) meeting on 10 November.

Chairperson Charmaine van Rijswijk headed the meeting in which she thanked the various community and security entities that have supported the CPF such as, the Douglasdale Police and Neighbourhood Watch.

The crime stats were discussed in the meeting. Car jamming continues to rise and vehicle owners are strongly encouraged to check that their cars are locked before leaving.

There has been a reduction in housebreaking and robbery – possibly due to the number of operations conducted by the members of the Neighbourhood Watch in conjunction with members of Douglasdale Police Station and security companies.

Burglaries are on the rise, especially in the area’s surrounding Hyperion, Witkoppen and the green belts.

Assault is a reason for concern as often the incidents are linked to that of domestic violence. The WhatsApp groups have grown and created

a better sense of vigilance in the residences that use them.

Elections for the new Douglasdale CPF Sector 1 committee will be held in February 2015 and the CPF needs more members to join the team. A meeting will be held in January to discuss this in more detail.

Furthermore, the Sector 1 Neighbourhood Watch of the Douglasdale CPF is desperate for more volunteers. They currently have 30 driven and dedicated members who work tirelessly to create awareness and are very active in the community. If you would like to join, please see the details below.
