VIDEO: Carols by the Trinity Singers
RANDPARK RIDGE – School choir wows audience with beautiful harmonies and solos.
Trinityhouse High School Randpark Ridge hosted its annual Carol Service on 28 November.
The school’s renowned choir, the Trinity Singers, delivered a striking performance, with elaborate harmonies and skilled solos.
They sang all the classics, some less-known carols and new originals, led by their choir master Riaan Vorster on piano.
Sofia Kouridi (17) was the standout singer.
She sang a number of solos with confidence, and controlled her voice perfectly in Away in a Manger. David Elliott, Tim Hill and Duncan Quick were also impressive in We three kings. Scriptures referring to the birth of Jesus were read in-between carols, and the audience unreservedly sang along when prompted by Vorster.
“To end the year off like this is great,” said the high school’s principal Christo de Wit. He added that the choir is one of the best school choirs in Gauteng.
“The children just amaze me,” Vorster said. “This is not easy music. They practise hard, they love God and love singing.” The school collected donations for charity after the service.
