Douglasdale CPF Sector 1 hosts their first meeting for the year
DOUGLASDALE – Cases of robbery with a weapon went up over the festive season, according to the crime statistics that were discussed at the Community Policing Forum.
The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum, Sector 1(CPF) held their first meeting for the year on 12 January at the Olivedale Public Library.
Among other things that were discussed, crime statistics were top on the agenda.
According to Sector 1 Commander Constable Bernicia Saroyan, robbery with a weapon other than a firearm went up by three cases, common robbery decreased by two cases, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm went down by 50 per cent, common assault decreased by 13 per cent and hijacking went up by one case.
Residential robberies went up by six cases, business robberies decreased by 100 per cent, malicious injury to property went down by 25 per cent.
Burglary in businesses increased by two cases, burglary in residential decreased by 5 per cent, theft of motor vehicles decreased by 67 per cent , theft out of motor vehicles went down 5 per cent.
Sector 1 areas include Juskei Park, Johannesburg North, North Riding, Olivedale, Sharonlea, Bellairspark, Douglasdale and some parts of Bryanston.
The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum will hold their meetings every second Monday of each month at the Olivedale Public library.
