Prepare, publish and promote

FONTAINEBLEAU – Independent publishers are on a rise and African Narrative is here to guide and nurture all ‘indie’ authors.

Porcupine Press and their imprint associate African Narratives (AFNA) have dedicated a platform to foster ethical behaviour and independence of publishing houses.

David Robbins of Porcupine Press and AFNA is an editor and writer. He and his dedicated team have made massive footsteps in the independent publishing industry. African Narrative has been created to celebrate the independent (indie) self-publishing arena. Now the self-publishing movement will allow for the author to be involved in the process of pen to paper, book to shelf.

Clare-Rose Julius of Porcupine Press and AFNA said, “The Indie Book Fair is a platform for authors to get into contact with quality publishers.” According to Julius and Robbins, there is a prevalence of dodgy ‘vanity’ publishers in the industry. They comment that the vanity publishers are simply not trained enough to know the ins and outs of publishing.

The author very often suffers as books are printed with a fair amount of errors, graphic mishaps and layout issues. “It is for this very reason that we have started AFNA. We foster ethical behaviour and excellence in independent publishing and are dedicated to help and guide all indie authors and publishers.” AFNA membership is free which welcomes authors from every sort of background.
