GALLERY: Rugby Festival kicks off

RANDPARK RIDGE – Trinityhouse Prep Randpark Ridge Rugby Festival started off with a game between the Trinity Blues and Highbury.

Trinityhouse Preparatory Randpark Ridge School’s Rugby Festival started off with a bang on 7 may.

Trinityhouse’s U13 team, called the Trinityhouse Blues, kicked off the derby against Highbury Preparatory School. The Rugby Festival was started in 2003, when Trinityhouse began competing against schools that have a long and prestigious history in the sport of rugby. “It is really great to see all of these schools coming together. It’s not only about rugby but about an educational sharing experience between all the schools,” said Trinityhouse’s sports and arts secretary Christa Boshoff.

Parents and spectators enthusiastically cheered for their favourite teams. Highbury clearly dominated the game from the start with Trinityhouse scoring only one try. At the final whistle, the score was Highbury 31 and Trinityhouse Blues 7.

Many of the Trinityhouse Preparatory Randpark Ridge pupil’s families hosted boys from other schools. “This creates a sense of fellowship by uniting under one roof,” said Boshoff.

“We have learned so much in all the years we have been competing in the festival. You build relationships with other schools and together we share our expertise.”
